Yummy Mini Album (Back Cover and it's back) (Tutorial #7)

Today is the last tutorial on the Yummy Mini Album. I hope you all had enjoyed following it.
Follow the steps below.
Back Cover:
1) Use a piece of mini acrylic cupcake as the back cover for this mini album. Run it through the embossing machine (ie. Cuttlebug) with an embossing folder (Spot and Dot).
2) Trace the bottom of the mini cupcake shape onto a beige card stock and cut it out. Ink it's edges with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink using a foam and attach it to the cover.
3) Use some paint markers ( I've used some Zig Painty. You could use a brush and some acrylic paint for this too) and Magenta Stickles to decorate the embossed images.
4) Add a strip of ribbon in the middle of the cover.
5) I've printed the "Handmade By" on a vellum and cut it out. Mat it onto an olive card stock and cut it out. Ink the edges of the card stock with Brushed Corduroy Distress ink using a foam. Attach it to the cover. Detail the circle with some White Opal Liquid Pearl.
Back of the Back Cover:
1) Trace the bottom of the mini cupcake shape onto a beige card stock and cut it out. Ink it's edges with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink using a foam.
2) Stamp some small "flowers" using black pigment or solvent ink onto the beige card stock. Colour it using some Crystal and Magenta Stickles. Attach it to the cover.
3) Add a strip of ribbon the middle (It's actually the same strip of ribbon from the back cover).
4) Tie a heart button with a ribbon and add it to the cover. Attach a magenta sequin on it and top it up with some White Opal Liquid Pearl.
To bind the whole album, simply use the binding ring that comes with the mini acrylic cupcake. Add loads of ribbons to the ring and I've also added a button heart too.
So now you have it. The complete tutorial on the Yummy Mini Album. Please link your finished project on tomorrow's post (I'll be posting on all the pictures of the Yummy Mini Album together) or email me. This challenge will be closed on the 5th June and I'll award one of you with some Clear Scraps goodies. Can't wait to see those projects! Happy creating!

Yummy Mini Album (Back of Front Cover & Page 1) (Tutorial #2)

How's everyone coping with the first tutorial? It's easy right? I did not heard back from most of you. Perhaps you all are enjoying your Memorial Weekend. Today's tutorial would be on the steps to create the back of the front cover and page 1 of the Yummy Mini Album.

Follow the steps below.

Back of front cover:

1) Trace the bottom of the cupcake shape onto a piece of beige textured card stock. Cut it out. Ink it's edges with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink using a foam. If you have a Cut N' Dry foam, you can use it.

2) Use some small flowers stamps to stamp two flowers on the piece in step (1). You can use black pigment ink, dye ink or solvent ink for this. Stamp on it's left. Decorate the flowers with some Crystal and Magenta Stickles.

3) Attach it to the acrylic piece and cover the top of the card stock with a pink trim.

Page 1:

1) Cover a piece of Clear Scraps mini acrylic cupcake with an olive cardstock. Simply just trace the cupcake shape onto the cardstock and cut it out. Ink it's edges with Peeled Paint Distress Ink and attach it to the acrylic piece.

2) Place the acrylic piece on top of your photograph and trace it's shape onto the photograph. Cut it out. (Tip: Try to print your photograph smaller (approx. 2.5"x2.5") or you can use thumb prints too) Attach it to the acrylic piece.

3) Use the Magenta Stickles to doodle a rectangular frame around the subject in the photograph. (Tip: This would help to pull some attention to the main focus of the page)

4) Trace the bottom left of the cupcake shape onto a paper doiley and cut it out. Ink it with some Tattered Rose Distress Ink using a foam or the ink blending tool. Cover the whole piece of the paper doiley with the ink. Attach it to the page. Cover it with another layer of Glossy Accents. Let it dry.

5) I've attached a fabric tab sticker from EKSuccess on the right of the photograph. If you don't have any fabric tab sticker, you could use chipboard tab or even create your own tab from cardstock or pattern paper. Use your creativity and add some colours and fun details on it. I've decorate the edges of the fabric tab sticker with dots of liquid pearls. (Stickles would work fine on this too)

6) Stamp your word or sentiment for this page with Saddle Brown solvent ink (Staz On) or any colour pigment/solvent ink you wish onto a white card stock. Cut it out. Ink it's edges with peeled Paint Distress Ink. Attach it on the lower left of the page using foam adhesives or pop dots.

Here you go. The tutorial # 2 on my Yummy Mini Album. Please feel free to post it here, email me or post it on the chatbox on the lower right of my blog if you have any questions or wish to share your finished page with me. You could upload a pic of your project on photobucket.com, your blog or any online gallery and link it here. I would love to take a look at it.
Keep an eye tomorrow for the tutorial #3! Just to get you all ready, get yourself some small stamps (a word stamp and small flowers), a button, orange or yellow Magic Mesh and punch out some small crafting foam dots (pink).

Recently, I've seen so many of these cool guestbook widgets everywhere and decided to add one to my blog too. Feel free to sign on it. Happy creating!!!

Yummy Mini Album (Front Cover) (Tutorial #1)

Are you all ready? Here we go with the first tutorial of the "Let's Have Some Acrylic Fun!" challenge! Let's start with the front cover. I sure hope that you all had your Clear Scraps acrylics ready.

Follow the steps below.
1) Use a piece of Clear Scraps Mini Acrylic Cupcake as the base for the front cover. If you're not using the mini acrylic cupcake, just use whichever acrylic piece that you want to use for this project.

2) Get an embossing machine. ie. Cuttlebug etc. and an embossing folder. I've used the Spots and Dots embossing folder. If you don't have this embossing folder, just use whichever folder you have. If you don't have an embossing machine, try stamping or even doodling on it.

3) Run the acrylic cupcake piece through the embossing machine.

4) Trace the bottom of the cupcake shape onto a piece of beige textured card stock. Cut it out.

5) Ink it's edges with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink. Use a foam or sponge to dab the ink onto the edges. Attach it to the acrylic piece with some adhesives. What adhesives to use? You can use Zip Dry, Helmar Glue, Glue Dots or even your Ranger Glossy Accents.

6) Get some paint markers and Stickles. I've used the a few Zig Painty (white, soft peach, cancun fiesta) (you could use any other paint markers) and a bottle of Magenta Stickles (any other glitter glue works fine too) to decorate the embossed image on the upper half of the cupcake. Just use your paint markers to doodle some dots and stripes. Use the Stickles to add some bling to it. If you don;t have any paint markers, try using some acrylic paints and a brush.

7) Cut out a small piece ( about 1.25"x 1.25") from a pattern paper. Then, run it through the embossing machine. I've used a "cupcake" embossing folder from Cuttlebug. You could use any image you want. After embossing, use a sanding block or a small piece of sand paper and lightly sand on top of the embossed image. This will enhanced the embossed image. (If you don't have an embossing machine, you could stamp on it or to be more creative, try heat embossing on it.) Ink it's edges with Frayed burlap Distress Ink.

8) Cut out another square piece (about 1.5" x1.5') from an olive card stock using a deco scissors or you can use a die cut from your die cutting machine. Ink it's edges with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink. Attach the piece in step (7) on top of it. Out line the edges with some Crystal Stickles. Add this finished piece to the acrylic cupcake.

9) Get some mini chipboard alphas. You can die cut them or you could use some chipboard alpha stickers for this. Any kind of alphas would be great. Paint them with some acrylic paint. When it's dry, cover them with Glossy Accents. Let it dry. Attach them to the acrylic piece.

10) Add a magenta button to the upper left of the acrylic piece and on top of it, add a pink sequin and a dot of Liquid Pearls (White Opal). You're done with the front cover.

I hope you like this first tutorial on the front cover of my Yummy Mini Album. If you have any question, please feel free to post it here, email me or post it on the chatbox on the lower right of my blog. Share you finished front cover with us by posting a link on the comment section here. You could upload a pic of your project on photobucket.com, your blog or an online gallery and share it with us. I would love to take a look at it.

Keep an eye tomorrow for the second tutorial on this yummylicious project! Just to get you all ready, get yourself some small stamps, a trim and a piece of paper doiley. Have fun!!

Problem using IE to load Blogspot.

Just thought I would jump on here real quick using Firefox to post this. Since yesterday, I'm having issues trying to load my blog using Internet Explorer. It keeps telling me that IE won't load it and ask to abort it. After doing a little searching online, it seems that this problem is happening to all IE users who has a blog on blogspot. According to them, Google is trying to fix the problem.

Therefore, if you're using IE right now and could not get it to load my blog, try using Firefox. It works fine. I'm so sorry for not detecting this earlier. I know how frustrated it could be when you can't get a page to load properly after several tries. Let's all hope that Google fix this bug soon.

Distress Stickles on Flowers

Since my last post, some of you had emailed me asking, "what are the particles on the flower?". Hmmm...I guess you all do study the pictures I've uploaded here very closely...lol! Here's another picture of it.

These are not paints. Neither are they inks, dirt or sand. They are Ranger Distress Stickles. This medium could easily distress your flowers in 2 steps. Apply a few dots of Distress Stickles on the flowers and use your fingers to spread it. Let it dry. Isn't it simple? I do believe besides water, flowers do get some dirt or even moss on them once in a while. Now you have your answers. Try it!

Apply Rub-ons to your Flowers

Do you have any rub-ons that are too small or left overs from your other projects that you don't know what to do with them? Why not use it on your flowers. In my recent project, I've used some of my old small rub-ons as flower centers. You could also apply rub-ons on the petals to give the flowers some character. Add more details to it using Dimensional Pearls, Liquid Pearls, Stickles etc. Try it!

A Special New Piece Card

This is a card that I've created for a good friend of mine, Ginny, who had just gave birth to a baby girl. I've used one of Clear Scraps latest mini acrylic puzzle pieces to create this card. It fits the title of the card perfectly and show how special this little blessing is to my friend.
Here are the steps to it.
1) Use a card stock as the base for the card. Ink all it's edges with distress ink.
2) Cut out a rectangular piece of pattern paper and ink it's edges with distress ink. Hand stitch around it's edges and adhere it to the card.
3) Cut out another two small pieces from two different card stocks and ink it's edges. Layer the smaller piece on top and adhere it to the card.
4) Use 3 pieces of Clear Scraps mini acrylic puzzle pieces and run two of them through a swirls or flourishes embossing folder and one through a baby stroller/cradle embossing folder. I've used Cuttlebug to do the embossing on my sample.
5) Paint the edges of the acrylic puzzle pieces with some copper acrylic paint. Highlight the embossed images with paint markers, solvent ink and Stickles. Adhere them to the card.
6) Add a button on the upper left of the card. On the top of the baby stroller acrylic puzzle piece, add some ribbons and a flower.
7) I've also added two flowers in the middle of the card. I've added a little Distress Stickles in the middle of the bigger flower.
8) Add a strip of lace and detail it with some Espresso Dimensional Pearls.
9) I've used some small circle chipboard to adhere on the lower left of the card.
10) Stamp the bottom right of the card with some little scrolls stamps and Saddle Brown solvent ink. I've hand written the sentiment.
Congratulations Ginny and may you and your little new bundle have many joyful years to come!
Hope you all are getting your supplies ready to play along with me on my "Let's have some Acrylic Fun!" tutorials/challenge next week.

Masking Templates' Negatives

What is a masking template's negative? It's the piece that you would normally throw away after removing the masking template from it. Have you thought of using it instead of throwing it away? Take a look at the picture below.

Is this image familiar to you? I've used the negative of Tim Holtz idea-ology flourish masking template to create this. Simply just layer the piece on top of your project and ink it with various distress ink. You can use a mister or ink it using a foam. Try it!

Friendship

This is a DT project for Scrapbooks 'N Stickers. I've used some Prima paintables to create this layout. Have you tried them? If not, you should! It will open an all new way to scrapping for you. You could custom it by adding colours and details to suit your layout. Most medium could be use to add colours to it. (ie. watercolours, acrylic paints, markers etc)

Here are the steps to this page.

1) I've used the Bouquet Prima paintable as the base for this page. I've used some acrylic paint to colour the flourishes.

2) Cut out a rectangular piece with a scallop edge from a pattern paper. Ink it's edges with distress ink and paste it on the lower right of the page.

3) Cut out another strip from a pattern paper and ink it's edges with distress ink. Paste it on the bottom of the page.

4) Distress the edges of photographs and ink it with distress ink. Use the "Punching to Distress" technique on one of the edges of the photograph. Paste both photographs to the page.

5) Use the "Distress and Stamp on Chipboard" technique on a flourish chipboard piece and add it to the page.

6) Use the Amour Prima paintable and paint it's frame with acrylic paint. Cut it out and use some foam adhesives to layer over the page. Use some Stickles to add some details to it.

7) Add a strip of lace on the right of the page. Use the "Sand Rock Effect" technique on a key chipboard piece and add it to the page.

8) Cut out a flourish from a pattern paper and ink it's edges with distress ink. Add some Prima flowers around it and detail it with Stickles. Use some glossy accents to create the "wet look" all over it.

9) Emboss and die cut some butterflies using black card stock. Use some white pigment ink and Stickles to enhance the embossed images. Fold it's wings up and add it to the page.

10) I've printed the title from the computer and ink it with distress ink. Add it to the page using some foam adhesives.

This is a layout on a special meet up with some of my wonderful Swedish friends from a COF that I'm in. I'm really thankful for this day and hope I could meet more of my online friends in future.
